Technical Studies for The Depository of Forgotten Monuments

This project is basic technical understanding of the design project for ‘The Depository of Forgotten Monuments’ in terms of structures, materiality, joints and construction. The system operates on modifications of basic scaffolding. There are 3 main systems:-

1.Frame: Based on the fixed and flexible joints of scaffolding but uses space frames. It is used to map complex curvatures of existing systems

2.Sub-Frame: Based on the idea of movable frames that map a surface and moves from a linear grid to a more complex grid

3.Sub-Scaffold: Based on the sub-frame but it collapses to create a new diverse shell for the surface

Sub-Subscaffold: Based on system 1 and 2 but is used more as a means of circulation that will connect all the 3 independent systems

Each system starts with a trial of physical models and from the failure of the physical models, detail construction drawings are produced to ensure that the systems may work. The systems have many similarities and differences that allow them to be self-sufficient as well as dependant on one another. They systems constantly leave traces within one another and are constantly in flux.
